Rehab Secrets
The plantar fascia is a broad band of dense connective tissue that runs the length of the sole of the foot. It functions to assist in maintaining the stability of the foot as well as bracing the arch of the foot.

Plantar fascitis is a strain to this tissue that is often the result of overuse, change in footwear and/or terrain or improper biomechanics.

Rehab SECRETS for this condition are:

  1. Take anti-inflammatory medications as directed by your physician.
  2. Ice to the affected area for 20 minutes as needed.
  3. Decrease painful activity for 2-3 weeks.
  4. Consideration of appropriate footwear and/or orthotics.
  5. Stretching should not increase pain. Stretch in a pain-free range.
  6. If your condition does not improve ask for a referral to Community Rehab Physical Therapy.
