In the USA, low back pain is one of the most common conditions and one of the leading causes of physician visits. In fact, at least four out of five adults will experience low back pain at some point in their lives.
Rehab SECRETS for this condition are:
- Take anti-inflammatory medications as directed by your physician.
- Ice or Heat to the affected area for 20 minutes as needed.
- Decrease painful activity for 2-3 weeks.
- Try to rest your back muscles by elevating you legs to relieve muscle tension.
- Contact your physical therapist to have an ergonomic evaluation of your workplace to assess your workstation and to teach you proper body and mechanics and posture.
- Stretching should not increase pain. Stretch in a pain-free range.
- If your condition does not improve ask for a referral to Community Rehab Physical Therapy.
