Lateral Epicondylitis or "tennis elbow" involves pain over the outer aspect of the elbow. Pain may be specific to the site or radiate down the forearm.
While there are many causes of this condition, most involve repetitive motion at the elbow joint with rotation of the forearm.
Rehab SECRETS for this condition are:
- Fill Dixie cups with water and put them in your freezer to make ice cups. Use the ice cups for ice massage over the painful area for 5-10 minutes.
- Decrease painful activity for 2-3 weeks.
- Deep tissue massage to the area that is most sore.
- Stretch in a pain-free range. Stretching should not increase pain.
- The use of an elbow strap might be helpful; consult with your physician or physical therapist regarding proper use of this strap.
If there are no improvements in your symptoms, please contact your physician regarding physical therapy.
