Achillies Tendonitis close window

The achillies tendon is a powerful tendon that attaches the gastrocnemius (calf) muscle to the calcaneus (heel bone).

Achillies tendonitis and bursitis occur from the overstretching of the tendon, resulting in a constant inflammatory condition. It generally occurs over the course of a long period of time.

Rehab SECRETS for this condition are:

  1. Fill Dixie cups with water and put them in your freezer to make ice cups. Use the ice cups for ice massage over the painful area for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Decrease painful activity for 2-3 weeks.
  3. Deep tissue massage to the area that is most sore.
  4. Stretch in a pain-free range. Stretching should not increase pain.
  5. A heel lift that is less that one quarter of an inch might be helpful in decreasing pain.
If there are no improvements in your symptoms,
please contact your physician regarding physical therapy.
